How Rude!

In the words of Stephanie Tanner - How Rude!

This morning I got on the El. In the seat in front of me there was a woman, about my age putting on her makeup. Not a big deal, but she did have her makeup case and purse and bag sprawled across the seat next to her. Train etiquette says not to take up an empty seat with your purse so that there's room for others to sit there.
Another older woman gets on the train and clearly wanted to sit in the seat next to the makeup lady. Now granted, there were other seats around, but maybe she wanted this specific seat because it was a window seat, or facing forward (some people get sick riding backwards). Either way, she asked the young lady if she could sit there. Train etiquette also says you should give up your seat for the elderly. Though it doesn't specifically address this rule to purses, it's safe to assume an older lady has more right to the seat than a bag does.
The girl actually told her no. "I'm getting up in a couple of stops." Then she just continued to put on her war paint for the day. The woman was sort of just dumbstruck. She stood around waiting for the girl to move.
Then I remembered that I too had been denied a seat by this jerkpod in the past. Just remembering it, I think I verbally uttered, "Well that's rude." I hope she heard me. Finally when her stop came, in a huff she gathered her stuff together, gave the old woman a dirty, "thanks for inconveniencing me" look and brushed by her, smacking her shoulder against the old woman's shoulder as she stormed off.
Myself and the other passengers just shook our heads at each other. Seriously, how hard is it to have a little consideration?

I'm tickled that me, Pete and Mo all used "Jerkpod" in a blog rant this week.

Jump on the bandwagon.

Isn't it time for an update?

We're staging a protest. No more blog updates until your site stays live for 3 consecutive days.

My site was live for well over a week, if not two this time. So, cancel the protest. Put away the signs. Lower the banners. Send the marching band home and get to updating.

Please. :)

Since I'm lame and blogless, can I tell a jerkpod story?

I bought a Mazda 5 back in April. Loving it and have finally graduated to remote locks.

Two months ago, the first key fob starts working randomly. Sometimes I can operate the remote locks, sometimes not and I have to use the manual key hole. I think, this must due to me dropping it a few times or Gabe chewing on it. So I switch it for the spair. A week goes by and now this one starts operating randomly!

Finally, I'm so frustrated, I call the dealership and bring it in with both keys. The guy looks at it and asks me to demonstrate 'cause he can't get it to "not work." (Thus the RANDOM.) I click it a few times. "Well, it should be locked now." he says, as he opens the door. Jerkpod. "We'll have to take a look at it."

Hours go by and they call me at work. We have to order a replacement key; the other one's not working. It'll be here in 3 - 5 days. Great. Sure enough, after I pick the car up with the "working key," it doesn't remotely un/lock the car. Jerkpods.

Yesterday, I take it in to have the replacement key programmed. Hours go by and I get another call "Hmmm, this one key isn't working, either." Yeah, I told you that, jerkpod. "We'll have to order another one. 3 - 5 days."

So, a friend drops me off to pick up my car after lunch. It's been almost 2 hours since I talked with them about ordering another key. "Um,,, we have to finish the blahblahblah, it'll be 10 - 15 minutes." Great, 'cause I don't have a job with killer deadlines at the moment. Jerkpod.

25 freakin' minutes later "Joe? Here's your car. ...uh, sorry about the wait." YEah, JERKPOD.

It's definately in my vocabulary now.
